project 365 done!!!...

wow, what an incredible and challenging journey this has been!  i can't believe i am done with this photo/blog project 365!  365 or more of photos and 365 days of blog posts done, finished, and accomplished by yours truly!  a big thank you to my kids and hubby for cheering me on and telling me not to give up on those days when i felt like stopping.  if it wasn't for them i would have stopped months ago!
take 1...
 take 2...
 take 3...
also, a big THANKS to all my blog readers and followers!  the blog world is an incredible place and through blogging i have met some really amazing ladies whom i have become friends with and you know who you are!  all of you have been my inspiration!  thank you everyone for taking your time to stop by daily, read and leave comments on my blog!  every single comment puts a smile on my face!

so for those who are wondering whether i will continue to blog, the answer is yes!  my project365 may have come to an end but i will continue to keep this blog up and running and post periodically... so please stay tuned and come back often for more of  "oh sweetlee me".

on another note...this year has been filled with sorrow, illnesses, and trials.  as happy as i am with this accomplishment i am also filled with much sadness at the same time.  a student from the kids school has gone missing and has yet to be found. yes, a parent's worst nightmare. her name is phylicia barnes.  here is the article.

also, one of my best friends is waiting for her husband, best friend, soul mate to pass from this life and to the arms of our heavenly father.  this was totally unexpected and caught all of us off guard.  i really wish i could be there for her and be by her side, i wish i could hug her and hold her close but i'm thousands of miles away so i can't.  all i can do is pray.  i pray for a peaceful passing and i ask all of you to pray for her in the days, weeks, months and years ahead as she is going to need strength, peace, comfort and her faith to keep her going.

so while we celebrate the coming of the new year.  keep those families that are hurting in your prayers.  thank you.

love and blessings to you all in the new year!....here's to 2011!

fresh and hot...

hot pan de sal is a big part of the filipino traditional breakfast that goes with that cup of morning coffee.  my mom would pick up freshly baked pan de sal from local pan de sal bakeries such as red ribbon, manila bread basket, and valerio's just to name a few.  it was so much cheaper to buy them...$1.50 for 1 dozen.  why make them if they are that cheap?  well, unlike the S.F. bay area/Nor Cal...Charlotte does not have a huge filipino population.  There are no pan de sal bakeries. i grew up eating pan de sal and so did my kids but once we moved to Charlotte we've missed them so!  however, when my parents do fly in from CA they bring a box filled with bags of pan de sal to split between mine and my sister's family but unfortunantly they don't last too long.  The only way for me and my family to enjoy fresh pan de sal is to make them myself.
i have tried many a recipes but haven't come across one that ever came out right or taste like any of the pan de sal i grew up eating until today.  this recipe is definitely going to be a keeper and i will now be making fresh pan de sal for my family from this day forward!

bon appetit!
